PM pays homage to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas

  • B.R. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 inMhow, Central Province (now Madhya Pradesh).
  • He founded Bahishkrit Hitkarni Sabha (1923).
  • He led the Mahad Satyagraha in March 1927to challenge the regressive customs of the Hindus.
  • In 1932he signed Poona pact with Mahatma Gandhi.
  • He participated in all three round-table conferences.
  • In 1936, he waselected to the Bombay Legislative Assembly as a legislator (MLA).
  • In 1947, Dr. Ambedkar accepted PM Nehru’s invitation tobecome Minister of Law in the first Cabinet of independent India.
  • On August 29, 1947,he was appointed Chairman of the Drafting Committee for the new Constitution.
  • He resigned from the cabinet in 1951,over differences on the Hindu Code Bill.
  • In 1956, heconverted to Buddhism.
  • He passed away on 6th December 1956.

 

National AYUSH Grid

Topic: Government policies and interventions aimed at development in various sectors and issues arising out of their design and implementation.

 

·        The AYUSH Grid is envisaged as a comprehensive IT backbone covering the different silos of the AYUSH Sector. Ministry of AYUSH has finalised components of AYUSH Grid Project in consultation with various stakeholders. The process of Expression of Interest (EOI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) for on-boarding of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for the AYUSH Grid Project has been completed and the eligible agency discovered through the process has been selected.

·        Ministry of AYUSH has taken up various pilot projects like AYUSH Hospital Management Information System (A-HMIS), Yoga locator application, Telemedicine, Yoga Portal, A-HMIS trainings, IT course for AYUSH Professionals, etc. which shall be merged into AYUSH Grid Project after completion of pilot period.

Aadhaar-Based Technical Improvements in PDS

The Department in association with all States/UTs is implementing a scheme on ‘End-to-End Computerization of PDS Operations’. The scheme includes digitization of ration cards/beneficiaries data including seeding of Aadhaar numbers and installation of e-PoS (electronic Point of Sale) devices at all FPSs for bringing transparency in the distribution and ensured delivery of highly subsidised food grains under NFSA.

Prime Minister Van Dhan Yojana

Topic: Welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population by the Centre and the States and the performance of these schemes; mechanisms, laws, institutions and Bodies constituted for the protection and betterment of these vulnerable sections.

 

  • The Van Dhan Scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED. It was launched on 14th April, 2018 and seeks to improve tribal incomes through value addition of tribal products.
  • The scheme will be implemented through Ministry of Tribal Affairs as Nodal Department at the Central Level and TRIFED as Nodal Agency at the National Level. At State level, the State Nodal Agency for MFPs and the District collectors are envisaged to play a pivot role in scheme implementation at grassroot level.
  • Locally the Kendras are proposed to be managed by a Managing Committee (an SHG) consisting of representatives of Van Dhan SHGs in the cluster.
